Rolling Hills Dolomite Alligator
Ancient ancestors of alligators and crocodiles roamed Mother Earth during the time of the dinosaurs. Fascinating discoveries of fossilized Cretaceous crocodilians which are related to alligators have been found in the Zuni Basin of New Mexico. We love Daphne and Leland Boone's alligators (or perhaps crocodiles). This fabulous one is offered in earthy Rolling Hills dolomite from Chihuahua, Mexico. Feisty friendly eyes are from watery blue turquoise inlays, while scales and claws are sgraffito-etched. Tiny nostrils are drilled. About 4 3/4" long, 1 5/8" wide and 1 1/4" tall.
