
Vermillion Marble Owl
Benina Kallestewa's perching Owl is carved from a rich quartz-veined vermillion marble. The ancient Romans loved red marbles importing the natural material from the Peloponnes to use in their grand architecture. Eyes are ever-watchful from cultured opal inlays, while a tiny offering necklace is created from heishe, turquoise and red coral beads. About 2 5/8" tall, 1" wide and 1 1/4" deep.
