Rare garnierite sometimes called green moonstone is said to refresh the soul by reconnecting the heart to the natural world. As a spiritual amulet, some say it helps to alleviate anxiety and depression through the healing of old wounds we may carry. This exquisite mineral is a green nickel ore noted in New Caledonia around 1867 by French mining engineer Jules Garnier. Kateri Quandelacy Sanchez's mighty Bear with alunite eyes is sculpted from garnierite to a size of roughly 2 1/8" long, 1 1/4" wide and 1 7/8" tall. To show gratitude for a bear's powerful spirit, Kateri attached an offering bundle from golden amber, purple spiny oyster shell and fine baby olive heishe beads.
