Stevan Natachu carves wonderful animal fetishes usually overlaying them with a mosaic feature like we see in his handsome Bear sculpted from leopard marble. He's arranged colorful turquoise, jet, pen shell, mother-of-pearl and orange spiny oyster shell pieces in a pleasing design. This watchful bear has turquoise inlaid eyes. About 3" long, 1 1/4" wide and 2 1/2" tall. Stevan comes from the greater Leonard Halate (d) family of Zuni artists. Stevan's brother is carver Peter Natachu Jr., while his uncle is well-known carver Herbert Halate.
