Justin Red Elk is from the greater Leonard Halate (d) family of Zuni Pueblo artists. His mother is carver Pansy Natachu. Justin's uncle and aunts are carvers Herbert Halate, Reva Halate and Marvelita Phillips, among many other wonderful artists from this lineage. We adore Justin's Mountain-lion (panther, puma or cougar) smoothly sculpted from jet which is basically fossilized coal. Eyes are from pipestone inlays and a stunning side offering bundle holds a large serpentine point. Its tail drapes luxuriously over one side. About 5" long, 1" wide and 1 1/4" tall.
