It is understood that septarian nodules began as mud-balls under the shallow seas during the Cretaceous period. When the seas receded these balls of mud dried, cracked and then fossilized where the cracks formed with beautiful minerals like calcite as seen in Daphne and Leland Boone's Bison. Leland shared that this was their first time carving bison. The magnificent horns are from Hawk talons. Nostrils are drilled and a perceptive gaze is from sky blue turquoise inlays. A shaggy mane and beard are lightly etched. About 2 1/2" long, 1 1/8" wide and 2" tall.
