Pandas are adored the world over, icons of peace and conservation. They are a Bear-like mammal living wild in high mountain forested areas of central China where bamboo grows. Originally categorized in the raccoon family, they've been reclassified as a bear subfamily, which diverged from an ancestral bear lineage. Georgette Quam Lunasee and Reynold Lunasee's treasured panda measures roughly 1 1/2" tall, 1 1/8" wide and 5/8" deep. The meticulous sgraffito treatment creates a gorgeous contrast to the richness of the black marble. Sweet eyes are from turquoise.
