Turtles have a rain association for the A:Shiwi (Zuni) whose shells are prized for making rattles used by the Rain Dancers. Several Turtles species inhabit New Mexico's waterways. Perhaps David Chavez, Jr.'s gorgeous Picasso marble reptile is an aquatic one like a softshell turtle who dwells in river systems like the Rio Grande. Peaceful eyes are from turquoise inlays. Sweet turtles teach us it is okay to slow down and savor the journey. About 2 5/8" long, 1 1/4" wide and 7/8" tall.
