The swift roadrunner is New Mexico's state bird because of its association with the stunning landscape and Pueblo culture. The bird's likeness is worked into traditional designs of many Indigenous artists. Brandon Phillips' gorgeous onyx feathered friend with a little crest has eyes from bright turquoise like the vast southwestern skies.
