Solitary black girdled lizards live among the rocky outcrops on Table Mountain, South Africa. They have a striking black hue which helps them absorb sufficient heat from the sun. Agile and active, these lizards often gaze in the direction of the sun which is why they are called sun gazers. Nelson Yatsattie's sgraffito Lizard has turquoise eyes and measures approximately 4 3/8" long, 1 5/8" wide and 5/8" tall. Its long tail is elegantly draped in marble.
